Best Large Company Winner: SRA
International
“Being one of the newest members of the SRA team, I have already
felt some of the great perks of working at this company. During
my first week I was just in time for the Health & Wellness Day
in which we had a nutritionist, nurse, personal trainer, and masseuse
come in to give us advice on living a healthier lifestyle. The best
part of the fair was when we each got a 15-minute massage! Once
a month we have Casual Day for a Cause in which we pay $5 to wear
jeans to work. The proceeds benefit local charities which we all
get a chance to nominate our favorite one; this month was the Wounded
Warrior Project. It’s a great chance to benefit the local
community while having fun. Our office uses a lot of acronyms so
the employees coined our own one called LTM (Last Thursday of the
Month) in which we dress down and bring in ethnic food this month
we chose Polish foods and have an office picnic in the lunch room.
Among other things, we enjoy it! The benefits of a competitive salary,
tuition reimbursement for undergraduate and graduate work, a flexible
40 hour work week with the ability to work from home, and a convenient
downtown Scranton location with covered parking.”

SRA has a very progressive, family-friendly and employee-friendly
benefits plan. SRA is very flexible with part time workers. As a
part-timer who lives in NY, my employment poses some complexities.
SRA is very willing to work around my schedule, doing what we have
to do to "make it work" for both SRA and for me. Despite
living hundreds of miles away, I still very much feel like part
of the team! Secondly, the work we do at SRA is very noble. The
business area I'm working with is supporting our armed forces. Supporting
the warfighter who protect our way of life in the US is a very worthwhile
undertaking!

In sharp contrast to many companies who pay lip service to corporate
culture, SRA actually 'walks the talk'. From the "Honesty and
Service" credo that is so critical going forward, to the real
commitment to the local communities they operate in, SRA makes a
positive impact everywhere they choose to do business. In the constellation
that is Northeast PA business, SRA is, in my opinion, the brightest
star. See list of reasons below.
1. A critical and necessary mission
2. Excellent company culture
3. Good paying, stable professional positions
4. 10 years in a row on the Fortune 100 Best Companies To Work For
list
5. We're hiring!
6. Ample opportunity for training and professional development
7. Comprehensive benefit package
8. Commitment to local charities - giving back with volunteering,
not just money

SRA is a company that understands that its greatest asset is its
people. It requires annual training of its employees that coincide
with the performance and career goals of its employees. It promotes
a health corporate environment by host annual health and wellness
fairs, allows for a family friendly flexible schedule, and promotes
a green workplace. Our benefits go beyond the typical medical and
dental. They offer long-term care insurance, pet insurance, and
a nurse advocacy program to provide easy access to medical questions.
This approach to developing and supporting the employees in multiple
aspects of their lives has made SRA one of the top 100 companies
to work for as ranked by Fortune Magazine for 10 straight years,
but also makes it one of the best places to work in NEPA., The arrival
of SRA in NEAP is significant for the high level of professional
jobs that it brings makes a statement about the region. To be able
to sustain an organization of industry thought leaders in NEPA demonstrates
to the world that the region has truly transformed.

SRA International, Inc. is the best company to work for in NEPA
because I’m able to work from home when needed, flex my hours
so I can attend my kids‚ track meets and school functions,
and feel appreciated for my contributions to the success of the
organization. Many people in NEPA have never heard of SRA a management
consulting company with a motto of “Honesty and Service.”
The fact that SRA decided to open an office in Scranton intrigued
me because I was looking to expand my career, but still maintain
the quality of life for myself and my family. We’re fortunate
to have such a progressive company providing opportunities to professionals
in our region, many of whom were born and raised here, so we can
have the career we want without having to relocate.
SRA is unique because our services have a global impact, although
the culture centers on a hometown vibe. We have fun at work planning
monthly pot-luck food festivals and community charity activities
to benefit such organizations as the Wounded Warrior Project and
Angel‚s Attic, a program of United Neighborhood Centers of
Northeastern Pennsylvania. SRA prides itself on being a good „corporate
citizen‰ to the community by always having a focus on giving
back to the community. SRA offers high-level, high-paying jobs,
tuition reimbursement, extensive training support, telecommuting
options, and a wide variety of benefits even pet insurance! In May
we celebrated a corporate-wide Health & Wellness Day with on-site
chair massages, blood pressure and diabetes screenings, and exercise
and nutrition consultations.
The company itself is 30 years old and is headquartered in Fairfax,
VA, but the regional office in Scranton is just one year young and
growing quickly. An entrepreneurial spirit is fostered at the office
as we look for creative solutions to complex problems and continuously
work to exceed the expectations of our customers along the way.
SRA has been named to FORTUNE magazine’s “100 Best Companies
to Work For” list for the past 10 consecutive years, a distinction
rare among companies locating in NEPA. The Scranton team is making
its mark, having recently been presented with the Supply-Chain Council’s
2009 “Operational Excellence Award” for our team’s
effort in analyzing and optimizing the U.S. Army’s supply
chain for assets being returned from Iraq for repair or disposal
creating cost reductions and efficiencies for the Government.

I retired from Federal Service, (Tobyhanna Army Depot) since been
hired by SRA as an Analyst, we are treated as individuals, kept
informed as to what is going on around us. Not just a number like
larger company's, salary is very good compared to similar type employers.
-Jerry Kelly
Great company which is growing at a wonderful rate despite the economy.
The benefits and salary are great for this area.
